JVC This JVC initiative is part of an international network of JVC initiatives which began in the USA in the 1950’s in response to a desire by young people for : • a community experience that would allow them volunteer fulltime, • while giving them more space for active personal development, including faith development. The JVC year is designed to help participants along the road of becoming everything they were created to be! It will help participants… • Live a less cluttered life, • Live more simply and perhaps with different focus, • Live with a more intentionally outward orientation in service to society, • Assess personal sense of God in light of all these things • Come to a place of deeper awareness of self – what does it mean to me to live authentically?
JVC - UK This year Magis Ireland will not run a JVC programme in Dublin, but will rather collaborate with JVC Britain to offer opportunities to young people to join either their London, Birmingham, Liverpool or Manchester community! This will be an excellent experience! What recent participants of JVC have said "It was time when I came to know some of the most amazing people I have ever met, but more importantly a time when I came to know myself''.. "It's a different world... God is to be found in all things, that (for me) gives much more meaning to even the smallest things..'' "For me personally it really just broadened my whole experience of God, of faith, of the Christian faith". "I had the freedom to choose anything I wanted to get involved in, it's very free, that's what fantastic about it. It's almost like you're given a blank canvas". "I grew up with a kind of traditional sense of what it means to be a Catholic or Christian. Now it's more meaningful, it's a much more active faith that I have"
