‘But who do you say that I am’? (Matthew 16: 13-15). For Christians, spirituality means how we relate to God, and give expression to that relationship in the everyday of our lives. Genuine spirituality draws us out of our limited selves (and a life at which I am the centre), and into ‘other centred’ living.

How developed is your spiritual self? Ignatian Spirituality This refers to the spirituality of St. Ignatius, founder of the Jesuit Order. From soldier to founder of the Jesuit Order, Ignatius experienced sometimes dramatic, sometimes mundane times in his path towards God. He journaled the experiences of his own personal journey, together with his experiences of helping others in theirs. These writings gathered together in ‘The Spiritual Exercises’ have had enormous influence on people over the centuries who seek greater intimacy with God in the day to day reality of their lives.
